The name of the new Rolls-Royce hatchback vehicle<\/a> was officially announced after months of speculations.
\nThe new ultra-luxury off-roader is named after the largest rough-cut diamond ever found- Cullinan. Weighing nearly 1.5 pounds, the Cullinan was discovered in South Africa more than a century ago and is currently owned by Queen Elizabeth.<\/p>\n

The vehicle has been developed under the Project Cullinan since its inception and inspired by the largest flawless diamond ever found.<\/p>\n

The car is designed to travel off-road as well as on pavement. Little information has been revealed about the off-roader so far- it is described by the British luxury car maker as a \u201chigh-sided\u201d vehicle rather than an SUV.<\/p>\n

Rolls-Royce’s CEO Torsten M\u00fcller-\u00d6tv\u00f6s says that it is \u201cthe most fitting name\u201d for their extraordinary product. Cullinan is a vehicle of \u201csuch flawless quality and preciousness\u201d, and such presence that \u201cit recalibrates the scale and true luxury.\u201d Just like the largest flawless diamond ever found, \u201cit is perfect and exists above all others.\u201d<\/p>\n

The British brand\u2019s latest model has undergone the most extensive testing program ever undertaken by the British luxury car maker, including evaluations from the deserts of the Middle East to the frozen lands of the Arctic Circle. The Cullinan will be built on the same aluminum chassis that the Rolls-Royce Phantom ultra-luxury sedan is based on.<\/p>\n

According to rumors, the new model \"\"<\/a>will make its debut this summer, during Monterey Car Week and is estimated to come with a price north of $300,000.<\/p>\n
