{"id":917,"date":"2016-07-08T18:22:25","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T18:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/?p=917"},"modified":"2016-07-08T18:27:36","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T18:27:36","slug":"another-tesla-crashes-while-autopilot-activated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/another-tesla-crashes-while-autopilot-activated\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Tesla Crashes While Autopilot Activated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Tesla_Model_X_front_view_16042113157.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-918\" src=\"http:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Tesla_Model_X_front_view_16042113157-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Tesla_Model_X_front_view_(16042113157)\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Tesla_Model_X_front_view_16042113157-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Tesla_Model_X_front_view_16042113157.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A Southfield art gallery owner told police that his 2016 Tesla Model X was on autopilot when it crashed into concrete divider and rolled over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike last week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Albert Scaglione, founder and CEO of a gallery in Southfield and\u00a0his artist son-in-law, Tim Yanke,\u00a0both survived a crash near the town of Bedford,\u00a0about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pensilvania crash occured just one day after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a report revealing that a 40-year old man, Joshua Brown, a former Navy SEAL of Ohio, died while using the self-driving autopilot system on May 7 when his Tesla <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/blog\/driver-dies-in-crash-while-using-teslas-autopilot\/\" target=\"_blank\">Model S collided<\/a> with a track in Florida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Scaglione told the police that he had activated the car\u2019s autopilot system. Dale Vukovich of the Pennsylvania State Police, who responded to the crash, said in his report that the accident\u00a0happened about 5 p.m. Scaglione&#8217;s Tesla was traveling east\u00a0near mile marker 160 when it hit a guard rail off the right side of the roadway and then the concrete median. After that, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interplextransportation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">vehicle<\/a> rolled onto its roof and came to a rest in the middle lane.\u00a0 Albert Scaglione survived the crash with minor injuries.
