800px-Lamborghini_Aventador_(5488843474)The production version of the Lamborghini Urus, the long-awaited hybrid SUV, will be unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The new hybrid luxury crossover will cost from around $225,000 and it is set to produce over 600bhp from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Lamborghini is planning to begin production of its first ever SUV in April 2017.
The famous car brand is planning to start production of its first ever SUV in a couple of months, said Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini’s CEO during an interview. He also confirmed the new vehicle will be called Urus.
The Italian supercar manufacturer rolled out its first ever SUV concept, dubbed Urus, in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show. Despite the hype, Lamborghini didn’t proceed with production. Since then, prototypes with the same design as the original concept have been spotted undergoing test drives.
It seems the famous car manufacturer is resurrecting the SUV project and will start production soon.
Under the hood will be a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 600bhp and 800Nm of torque. The power will be transmitted via a dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive. The Urus will also feature an electronic four-wheel steering system similar to the new Aventador S. The Italian manufacturer will offer the SUV with the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, too. The car will reach from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds, topping the Bentley Bentayga (4.1sec) and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S (4.1sec) which are the fastest vehicles in the segment.
