TuSimple Self-Driving Trucks to Haul Mail Between Phoenix and Dallas

Self-driving trucks operated by technology startup TuSimple will haul mail and packages across the Southwest in a two-week pilot program.

The US Postal Service has awarded a contract to TuSimple, a firm that aims to bring the first self-driving truck to market. The technology firm said it is planning to perform five round trips in total between Postal Service distribution centers in Phoenix and Dallas, a journey of more than 1,000 miles each way through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas along interstates 10, 20 and 30. The runs began last week as scheduled.

World’s Largest Airplane Takes Flight for First Time

Stratolaunch, rocket-launching plane, took flight for the first time ever early Saturday morning and safely landed two hours later. The largest airplane ever created lifted off shortly after 10 a.m. from Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California.

Exactly 45 minutes after the sun began to rise over the Mojave Desert, the plane took off for the very first time.

A California Lawmaker Proposes Lanes with no Speed Limit on Two of the State’s Busiest Highways

“Put the pedal to the metal” or the American version of Germany’s autobahn.

A California lawmaker has proposed a bill to construct speed limit-free lanes on I- 5 and Highway 99 in the state as a way to reduce pollution.

Senator John Moorlach of Orange County, south of Los Angeles, has introduced Senate Bill 319, which would add two lanes each to the north- and south-bound lanes of Interstate 5 and Highway 99. Those lanes would have no upper speed limit.

Tesla launched faster third generation Supercharger

Tesla presented its third generation Supercharger charging stations during a customer event at its headquarters in Fremont, California on March 6. The new “V3” Supercharger will be capable of charging the Model 3 at a speed of 250kW, and Tesla claims it is fast enough to add 75 miles of range in only 5 minutes. The company says it will break the ground on several V3 Superchargers in April.
